Welcome! Whether by accident or with full intent, you have reached this promising young blog about life in Austin, Texas through the eyes of various squirrel persona. My co-author, Sarah Diamond, and I are currently in our second year at the University of Texas, and have taken upon ourselves the mission of capturing squirrels in their everyday habitats as well as comparing their activities to those of ours as students, adventurers and Austinites.
I happened to stumble upon this little guy outside the Student Services Building on campus. With the assumption that most squirrels are pretty camera shy, I approached this one with great caution only to find him to be an eager model for this photo shoot. This can definitely relate to encounters with people whom one may assume to be unapproachable at first glance, but who may be very willing to crack open their shells when you make an effort to get to know them.Hopefully we will come across squirrels just as ready to share their acorns with us and follow us home as this one in future photo hunts. UT legend has it that the albino squirrel brings luck to any student who crosses its path, so we will keep our eyes peeled for this elusive yet powerful critter in our quest for the personification of Austin through squirrels. That is all for now, thanks for reading!
Squirrel pictures are always welcome, please send to nataliemyers7@gmail.com. Any tips on the whereabouts of the albino squirrel, the relative holy grail of all squirrels, would be very much appreciated!
